Photography Courses in the Lake District are the latest addition to our expanding range of photography courses suitable for beginners to experts.
We have looked at the range of Lake District photography courses that are on offer and we think there is a gap for a course which will push the skills of all but advanced photographers without demanding that they hike up the fells and can enjoy the pleasures of one of the best country house hotels in the Lake District the Netherwood Hotel in Grange Over Sands.
We have negotiated a great rate of £85.00 per person for dinner bed and breakfast for each of the two nights of the course which runs from Sunday 22 March to late afternoon on Tuesday 24 March.
With the three days of tuition and other included costs this gives a cost per person of £399 which is highly competitive against other courses but which offers a far higher standard of food and accommodation, including use of the hotel’s swimming pool and gym, as well as a superb setting overlooking Morecambe Bay and just two minutes’ walk into the lovely town centre in Grange.
As for photography the course will begin on the Sunday with a session on technique tailored to the needs of the small group of delegates (no more than 6) and the course is aimed photographers who have gone beyond AUTO but would like to develop their skills and add stunning Lake District photographs to their portfolio.
We have chosen a range of locations which give us flexibility to adapt to the famous Lake District weather. We have found locations that offer classic Lakeland views as well some lesser known viewpoints and backgrounds so that you can be sure that you will be getting something a little bit different.
We have also been careful to choose locations that are accessible to anyone with moderate level of fitness. This means the ability to walk with your camera bag and tripod for a round quarter of a mile and able to walk up a hill for perhaps 15 to 20 mins which will leave you a bit short of breath for a minute or two. It is important to emphasise that we want you to enjoy yourself, not feel daunted so there is no rush and it’s definitely not a competition! Outdoor clothing and footwear is a must.

Sunday
Check-in between 12.30 and 2
2.30 Delegates meet in the Library for tutorial session lasting around 2.30 hours – tea & biscuits served
5.00 we will break – we may do some photos on the terrace, weather permitting
Guests free to use facilities including gum, spa and public rooms and gardens
7.30 meet in the bar, dinner at 8.00
Monday
Breakfast at 8.00 then we will depart for the day returning at about 7.00
Dinner at 8.00
Tuesday
Optional dawn photoshoot, departing the hotel at 06.00, returning for breakfast at about 08.00
For others, breakfast at your chosen time, then we will do a photoshoot at 9.00 very close to the hotel, returning at 11.30 to check out.
Then we will run a tutorial session in the library for a couple of hours with guests departing by 3pm latest.
What’s included in the price?
- Two nights Dinner, Bed & Breakfast (single occupancy in a newly refurbished, en suite room) with tea, coffee & biscuits on the afternoon of day 1
- Entrance fees included where appropriate to locations for shoots
- Transport by car to/from photo locations (discount of £25 offered to a guest who can take one or two others in their car)
- All tuition.
Not included – travel to/from your home to Cumbria, drinks, lunches/refreshments away from or at hotel. Drinks will be charged to your room and payable on check out.
Total price £399 per person (+ Paypal booking fee on the deposit payment)
Non-photographers accompanying, add £80 per night
£50.00 per person (non-refundable) deposit payable on booking, balance to be paid no later than 7th March by cheque or BACS transfer.
We recommend that you take out holiday insurance in case you need to cancel after this date. We hold public liability insurance for our courses in the sum of £1,000,000 per claim
For the course to be viable we need at least three participants to have signed up by 1st March. If you have booked and paid the deposit by then and we do not get enough sign-ups, we will refund your deposit in full.
