Our new Birds of Prey Photography Course is for photographers who are confident in shooting in fully manual and who will appreciate the technical and creative challenge of working with birds of prey both at rest and in flight.
You will be able to spend lots of time close up with the birds – eagles, falcons and owls – in a series of private sessions with the handlers. We will spend time a variety of settings from the birds on the handler’s gauntlet, flying between perches in a semi-covered setting and with the falcons, flying to a swung lure – quite a challenge for a photographer!
Our expert, professional tutor will guide you at each step and with the group strictly limited to eight people on the course, there will be plenty of time for one to one discussion as well group briefings in the classroom and out in the field.
The day is at a relaxed pace and the site quite compact so there will be no problem with you bringing tripods and whatever lenses you wish.
The handlers at Wild Wings Birds of Prey Centre are experts with the birds and showing them to their best for you and we will set up shots with clean backgrounds and have the birds on the ground cleverly tethered to give a naturalistic feel.
The day starts with a short classroom briefing from our tutor where he will show you a series of images you should be able to recreate and describe how the shots were set up, but you will be free to interpret the scene as you wish during the day, calling on our tutor to help you.
The day ends with a final debrief over a tea or coffee to discuss final tips and guidance.
A day for buying an extra large memory card (or two) and you are sure to come away with some great additions to your portfolio and newly honed skills.
Wild Wings Birds of Prey Centre is easy to find and just 5 minutes from Junction 11 (Risley) of the M62 between Manchester and Liverpool.
