Beyond Beginners Photography Course – contrasting the stunning interior of Manchester’s Portico Library with its exciting Northern Quarter street scenes.
New for 2020 – beyond beginners photography course at Manchester’s amazing Portico Library plus street photography in the Northern Quarter. Two sides of one great city.
This course is for people who are happy working in the creative zone of their camera and fully manual. If you have already been on one of our Beginners Photography Courses, this is a good step up in your skills.
We’ll spend the first half of the day’s session in Manchester’s amazing Portico Library on Mosely Street, working on depth of field, close up work and using light to create atmosphere and finding tiny details that tell the story of this beatiful hidden gem of Manchester’s heyday as one of the great intellectual cities of the world.
This is a small group course – maximum six delegates – and out tutor will be able to work with you almost on a one to one basis, guiding your work and answering questions as we go.
After a quick sandwich (included in the price) we will leave Victorian Manchester behind and take on the city’s Northern Quarter for a contrasting session of street photography.
We will move quickly through the area to find inspiration in the street art and the cultural life of the Northern Quarter with an emphasis on finding beauty and interest in things and scenes that most people pass by without noticing.
By the end of the day you will not only have developed your skills and confidence in your technique, you will have images that inspire you to push on and begin to develop your own personal style.
Please note The Portico Library has quite limited access for people with impaired mobility. Please refer to their statement on their website before booking. https://www.theportico.org.uk/visit
The photography course begins at 11.15 am and will wrap up at about 5pm (depending on weather and the group on the day).
