Our steam train photography day is suitable for photographers of all abilities and the small group size means that there is plenty of opportunity for one to one tuition on exactly what you want from your photographs of steam and diesel trains.
PLEASE NOTE BOOKINGS FOR THIS ARE MADE VIA THE EAST LANCS RAILWAY LINK
The day is not a structured course in the traditional sense as we may have novices alongside very experienced photographers. but your tutor is a highly experienced professional tutor, able to spend time with you to develop your technique.
We begin at the ELR main station in Bury with a safety briefing and then we begin in earnest, developing your technique on subjects around the platforms and out on the network as we travel up to Rawtenstall, stopping off at vantage point close to Irwell Valley station to capture engines in full steam with a scenic background.
After a quick lunch in the station buffet (included in the price) we go ‘behind the curtain’ to let you into areas the public cannot see and we spend a good amount of time with the maintenance teams at work on the engines, getting up close to the trains and providing you with priceless opportunities to take photographs of the trains and the historic workshops.
Subject to the schedule on the day we will also take you into the largest working heritage signal box in the UK.
